I’m Julia Cope, a freelance medical writer based in Spain.

About me

It was the moments when I stepped away from the lab bench to share my findings that allowed me to truly connect with my research. Being able to articulate complex scientific concepts to the broader community and engage in dynamic discussions about them made communication the most fulfilling aspect of my work. The feeling of igniting understanding and curiosity in others is what fueled me to pursue a career in medical writing.

After my PhD, I began my first position in a medical communications agency and started working closely with pharmaceutical clients. Focusing on rare diseases, I brought together the diverse insights of clinicians around the world, synthesizing them into cohesive narratives for publications and presentations. Later, I took on a role managing European-funded research projects in gene therapy and other treatments for cancer. Acting as the connector between research groups in eleven different countries, I learned the value of communication in fostering multidisciplinary collaboration to fuel research progress.

Now, I combine my experience in research, communications, and project management to run my own freelance medical writing business focused on advanced therapies. I thrive when creating tailored content with cutting-edge results to drive collaboration between researchers, patients, clinicians, and industry partners so they can navigate this complex field together.
